JOB OPPORTUNITIES

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER - APPLY

Manhattan, NY

The days of mere bean counting are long gone for accountants. The profession has always been rather technical, but these days the big firms are looking for signs that up-and-comers not only know numbers, but are fluent in technology too.

Today’s CFO has evolved from chief financial officer to chief “business strategy” officer. They have moved beyond crunching the numbers and now must be capable of advising their management teams and boards on what the numbers truly mean, as well as analyze and articulate the impact of financial and strategic business decisions.

This evolution means the road to becoming a CFO has changed and so has the criterion for success. Today, CFOs must be able to go beyond the traditional set of responsibilities and into managing a variety of business operations including finance, IT, procurement and HR . In our conversations with companies staffing their finance teams, we’ve found as they rapidly grow and evolve, the desire for specialist CFOs has increased.

  • Generate Departmental financial reports to meet all internal and external reporting requirements
  • Coordinate and manage month-end and year-end closing requirements and associated reporting, including the Department's financial statements
  • Perform general accounting activities such as: analyzing and recording cost allocations and accruals, Intra-government Payment and Collection activity, property transactions, cost transfers, obligations, reservations and vendor profiles; managing investment activities; and reviewing and processing contract closeouts and transfers
  • Perform transaction processing activities in the areas of travel services, billings and collections and payroll support
  • Serve as an expert resource in accounting matters
  • Develop and execute a quality control program for meeting mission and performance requirements
  • Ensure that the Department's accounting and financial services are accomplished in a manner consistent with Performance Work Statement, applicable statutes, regulations, and central agency guidance

Great opportunity for a IT savvy CFO "specialist" with a proven past.
